The Play Space Redevelopment Program is part of the City of Bayswater's commitment to maintaining and enhancing our reserves and facilities.
This is an annual program, with redevelopments based on community input as outlined in the Play Space Strategy. The primary goal of this program is to cultivate vibrant and inclusive play spaces that cater to individuals of all ages. We aim to enhance not only the enjoyment of these spaces but also their overall functionality, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our residents.
The Play Space strategy focuses on planning play areas with a broad perspective, considering the environment, current public open spaces and play opportunities in the area. It includes a 10-year implementation plan, reviewed each year. The City will suggest a list of play space redevelopments for Council to consider. These redevelopments will be based on feedback from the local community and park users, and may change depending on local circumstances. The time frame of the play space renewal is subject to available future budgets.
The following play spaces are scheduled to be renewed in the coming years. For further details, please click on the respective play spaces below.
Community members are encouraged to share their feedback on the play space renewal by completing the survey. This input is crucial for ensuring that the new play space meets the needs and desires of local residents.
Once the survey results are finalised, a summary of the community engagement feedback and aconcept plan will be available to view on the respective play spaces page.

The City has installed community exercise equipment at Claughton Reserve. The exercise equipment pod, featuring over seven different stations in one unit (for both static and dynamic exercise movements), will complement the existing play space area.
This compliments new play equipment and a fairy trail installed in 2021, and solar lighting installed along pathways earlier this year. The lighting will illuminate activity and play space areas including the boat ramp at the park. Five bollard lights were installed along the pathway from Katanning Street through to the play space area and new lighting towers were installed over the barbeque area and boat ramp.
