Sherwood Reserve Redevelopment

Consultation has concluded.

Background

Sherwood Reserve is a pocket park located on the corner of Kelvin St and Sherwood St in Maylands.

The basic play equipment (swing set) is going to be replaced in the coming months. In addition, the City will look to install an accessible pathway with seating and landscaping to compliment the space. Some under- used grassed areas will be turned into space for additional trees (eco- zoning). This saves water, as the eco- zoned areas are designed to become self- sufficient, requiring little or no water or fertiliser.

The budget for this project is $30,000.

What's next?

The engagement period has now ended, a final concept plan design can be viewed here. The City will engage suppliers, with works to be carried out in stages starting in early 2023.

While this space is closed we would encourage the community to visit nearby play spaces of The Rise, Gibbney and Puntie Crescent Reserves.

New Play Space

In 2023, The City completed the play space and landscape upgrade to Sherwood Reserve. Upgrades to the equipment included a new timber frame dual seat swing set, new nature based log seats and boulders with additional mulch soft fall to play equipment and a new concrete path & bench seat.

In addition to this, existing seating was retained & relocated, a new irrigation system, timber bollards, maintenance gate and a new bin were also installed on site.

Mulch and native water wise planting took place to help enhance biodiversity, improve maintenance efficiencies and reduce groundwater use.
