Feredy Street Reserve Play Space Upgrade
Consultation has concluded
Background
Feredy Reserve is a Local park located between Feredy Street and Bromley Street in Embleton. The current play equipment has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced in the coming months.
How will the play space be redeveloped?
The budget for this redevelopment $114,000, ($60,000 for new play equipment). The City will provide further revegetation of the drainage basin, shade sail upgrades and new bollard installations throughout the park, as shown in the landscape concept plan.
The engagement period is now closed, we would like to thank all participants for providing feedback via the engage page and survey. Considering the feedback received, the City of Bayswater selected Concept Plan E (image below) as the chosen playground to be installed at Feredy Reserve. Based on community feedback the enclosed slide has been amended to a turbo slide alternative, final renders of the design can be found here.
New Play Space
In May 2023, The City completed the play space and landscape upgrade to Feredy Reserve.
Thanks to feedback from the community, Feredy Reserve now features a new playground with shade sails on refurbished posts, new mulched garden beds with native plants, offering an improved area for families to play, relax and picnic.
The existing play equipment was replaced with a large multi-use play fort with two slides and several climbing structures, a three-seat swing set and a sand digger.
New shade sails have also been installed over the play equipment, providing children with increased sun protection.
In addition to the new play equipment and shade sails, 1,400 native plants were installed into mulched garden beds contained with flush edging to help enhance biodiversity, improve maintenance efficiencies and reduce groundwater use.
Images of the new play space and landscaping can be found in the photos section of this page.
