Why does the City want to name Reserve 33059?

Reserve 33059 is not formally named and therefore, the City can take this opportunity to formally name the reserve after a prominent or historically significant figure in the City of Bayswater.

Isn't the reserve already named 'Dunkley Reserve'?

Although well known throughout the community as 'Dunkley Reserve', Reserve 33059 is not currently formally named. The reserve may have become known as 'Dunkley Reserve' because the street where the reserve is located was originally named 'Dunkley Place'. In 1991, the portion of the street off Drake Street was renamed to 'Cosentino Place'.

Why doesn't the City formally name the reserve 'Dunkley Reserve'?

Landgate advised they would not be supportive of formally naming the reserve ‘Dunkley Reserve’, despite the reserve being informally named that. Landgate advised that Wymond Park was previously named ‘Dunkley Park’ and there is a separate road named Dunkley Place off Kitchener Avenue, Bayswater, which was named in commemoration of Louisa Dunkley. Given the previous naming of a park and the proximity to Dunkley Place, the name would not be approved by Landgate.  Landgate advised their preference is that parks and reserves are named after the road they are located along. Therefore, 'Cosentino Reserve' is seen as a more appropriate option given it adjoins Cosentino Place.

Where did the name 'Cosentino Reserve' come from?

The reserve is located on Cosentino Place, Bayswater. The Cosentino family are long standing residents of the City of Bayswater and a number of family members continue to live along the street where the reserve is located.

I don't live anywhere near the reserve, can I still comment on the proposed name?

Yes, all residents regardless of where they live in the City of Bayswater, are welcome to complete the survey.

What other names have been proposed for the reserve?

At this time, 'Cosentino Reserve' is the only name option under consideration for the Reserve.
