FAQ
What is Engage Bayswater
Engage Bayswater is the City of Bayswater's online consultation platform. It provides information about projects, plans and services being considered by the City and opportunities for community members to provide feedback.
Why is the City of Bayswater engaging online?
Most people prefer online surveys as a convenient way to have their say but it isn't the only way we ask the community for feedback.
Individual project pages provide details about when and how to provide your input: any projects also include face-to-face opportunities such as pop-ups and information sessions, and our teams are always happy to provide hard-copy surveys if needed.
Do I need to register to participate?
No. Registration is optional. Most consultation activities can be completed without creating an account.
Can I participate anonymously?
In most cases, yes. Registration helps us manage invitations and monitor participation levels, but your feedback can often be provided anonymously. If an activity requires registration, or asks for your name and contact details, this will be clearly stated along with the reasons we are asking for that information and how it will be used. For example, submissions on planning applications or local law objections are required by legislation to include your name and address for the submission to be considered.
Why should I register?
By registering, you can select which topics you're interested in and receive invitations to consultation activities that match your preferences. The number of invitations you receive will depend on your interests and the projects underway. You will also receive a quarterly update about consultation opportunities and outcomes.
Why do you ask for my personal details?
This information helps us build a picture of who is participating and improve how we invite people to take part. It also helps us identify groups that may be under-represented in consultation activities. For example, if we're planning a new playground or reviewing seniors' services, we may also ask about age or whether you have young children living at home. These questions are sometimes required for a specific activity, but your answers will not be linked to you personally.
How is community feedback used in decision-making?
Community feedback helps inform City decisions, but it does not determine outcomes on its own. We review and consider all feedback received alongside other information such as technical advice, legislation, Council policies, budget considerations and available resources. Where possible, we share what we heard and any resulting decisions or outcomes on Engage Bayswater.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes! Your privacy is absolutely protected and the City of Bayswater will only use your email to contact you with updates and to invite you to participate in consultations. Your email address will not be distributed to any third party or used for any others purpose. You may like to review our privacy statement.
How is the site moderated?
All public comments or questions on the site are moderated twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for inappropriate language, comments that disrespect other participants or are significantly off topic.
All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table and all moderation is independent of the City of Bayswater. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious. In this case, the comment will be removed from the site immediately and the person who posted the comment will be advised by email. Please refer to the moderation guidelines .
How can I comment in the online consultation?
If you have not previously participated, simply click on the 'register' button at the top right hand corner of the page. When prompted, create a screen name and a password of your choice. You will also be asked to provide a valid email address, your age, gender and the location in which you live.
