Consultation has concluded

The Strand Reserve is located on The Strand, in Bayswater, opposite Essex Reserve. Residents can choose from a handful of parks in this area within walking distance of their house; these are mostly Pocket and Local parks. The Strand is classified as a Pocket level park, mainly used by surrounding local residents for short visits.

The City has developed a Parks and Play Space Classification Hierarchy to inform and guide play space redevelopments. For your reference, this can be found in the Document Library to the right of the page.

Redevelopment of the play space

The play equipment is due for replacement and we are taking the opportunity to redevelop the play space. This means that we would like to know how the community uses the space and their ideas for improvement. This may include basic play elements, seating and other types of park infrastructure, depending on community feedback and subject to available resources.

The budget for this project is $25,000.

Community Engagement update

The City received 9 completed surveys during the final stage of community consultation in relation to The Strand Reserve play space redevelopment. The information collected from the community engagement process then assisted the City to develop a final concept design based on a mixture style of play equipment.

The community requested that the following be considered within the overall concept design:

  • Equipment to be suitable for children aged between 0 - 12 years
  • They were in favour of the tornado swing
  • An alternative component to the tepee
  • An additional climbing component

Thank you for all your feedback. The City values your input and it helps us make an informed decision based on community preferences.

What's next?

The final design has been developed and is available to view in the Photo Gallery to the right of this page.

The play space is now open.
