Background

In March 2022, Council resolved to develop a City-wide Skate and BMX Facility Strategy to inform future development and provision of skate, scooter and BMX infrastructure across the City.

To develop the strategy, the City undertook desk research, spoke to stakeholders and invited the community to provide feedback to help us understand participation in and demand for infrastructure for sports such as skating, scootering and BMX. Alongside community input, a number of inputs to investigate options and provide recommendations were used.

This input from the broader community ranged from skaters and participants, parents/grandparents, youth and school groups, sporting clubs, community groups and residents either seeking more activation within public spaces or those who may be concerned about what might or could be developed into the future.

Previous engagement

The City sought input from the wider community through a survey. Our community shared ideas about what they would like to see, and about the design and features of these places. The outcome report can be found in the Documents section of this page.

How to get involved

The City has collated community feedback and other information to develop a draft strategy. We are now asking the community how well they think the draft strategy will guide the City in effectively planning for the provision of future skate and BMX facilities.

The survey provides space for general comment, and more specifically seeks feedback on the Site Assessment Matrix, Design Guidelines and Implementation Plan that form part of the strategy and are the main guiding elements of the document.

Have your say by completing the short online survey below.

Hard copy surveys are available at the City's Civic Centre and three libraries.

Submissions close Sunday 12 May 2024.
