Consultation has concluded

The southern side of Noranda Sporting Complex is bordered by Wylde St in Noranda. The play space is located in the south west corner of the complex, adjacent to the athletics track. There are a number of Local parks with play equipment in the area, particularly on the southern side of the complex and within walking distance of local residents. Noranda Sporting Complex as a whole is classified as a District level park, mainly used for sporting activities including athletics, netball and soccer. There is also play equipment on the south eastern side of the sporting complex, adjacent to the soccer fields, which will not be replaced at this stage.

The City has developed a Parks and Play Space Classification Hierarchy to inform and guide play space redevelopments. For your reference, this can be found in the Document Library to the right of the page.

Redevelopment of the play space

The play equipment is due for replacement and we are taking the opportunity to redevelop the play space. This means that we would like to know how the community uses the space and their ideas for improvement. This may include play elements, seating and other types of park infrastructure, depending on community feedback and subject to available resources.

The budget for this project is $35,000.

Engagement update

The City received 6 completed surveys during the final stage of community consultation in relation to to the Noranda Sporting Complex play space redevelopment. The information collected from the community engagement process then assisted the City to develop a final concept design based on a nature based style of play equipment and fitness track equipment. The community requested that the following be considered within the overall concept design:

  • Equipment to be suitable for children aged between 0 - 4 years
  • They were in favour of the fitness track equipment
  • An additional climbing component.

Thank you for all your feedback. The City values your input and it helps us make an informed decision based on community preferences.

What's next?

The final design has been developed and is available to view in the Photo Gallery to the right of the page.

The new play equipment has been installed. The park is open.
