What is the Project?
The City of Bayswater is progressing a project called 'Meltham Surrounds', which will investigate further detailed planning within a wider area of Meltham Train Station than was considered as part of the Meltham Station Precinct Structure Plan.
Council Decision
Council at its Ordinary Meeting dated 21 April 2020 resolved to recommend that the Western Australian Planning Commission approve Amendment No. 87 to the City of Bayswater Town Planning Scheme No. 24, subject to modifications. The minutes of the meeting are available here.
What is happening now?
The City has forwarded Council's recommendation and all the relevant information to the Western Australian Planning Commission for their consideration and final decision.

Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 3 September 2019 will consider initiating an amendment to its Town Planning Scheme No. 24 to implement zoning and development provisions that are largely consistent with the panel recommendations.
Referral to Western Australian Planning Commission

The details of the scheme amendment, as initiated by Council, is submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission to examine and advise if any modifications are required.

Council will consider the feedback received from the community during advertising and decide to:

Not to support the scheme amendment.
Council's final recommendation will be forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission, who are responsible for making the final decision.
