The Reconciliation Advisory Panel advises and assists the City in the development and implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and the development of future Reconciliation Action Plans. The Reconciliation Advisory Panel also provides advice to the City on all matters that affect Aboriginal people within the City, particularly where we can have a direct influence. There are two Councillors and five community members appointed to the Committee.

• Identify meaningful and achievable actions for the City's Innovate RAP in accordance with Reconciliation Australia requirements for endorsement.
• Build new, and continue to strengthen existing, relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Build new, and continue to strengthen existing, relationships with local organisations that are working on implementing their own RAP.

• Relationships: Building positive, respectful and meaningful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, organisations, communities and staff.
• Respect: Recognising the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Whadjuk People of the Noongar Nation, and actively promoting reconciliation and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritage throughout the local government area.
• Opportunities: Contributing to closing the gap in education and employment outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal members of the community, and supporting self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
• Governance: Tracking progress and reporting. Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of the actions outlined in this Innovate RAP and identifying areas for improvement.

The Innovate RAP will also be reported on annually in Council's Annual Report.

• Develop mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders
• Develop and pilot strategies for reconciliation initiatives
• Engage staff in reconciliation
• Identify the best approach for the organisation through aspirational deliverables
• Explore how the organisation can drive reconciliation through its business activities, services, programs, stakeholders and/or sphere of influence
• Report to Reconciliation Australia by September each year through the RAP Impact measurement questionnaire
• Publicly report RAP progress to external stakeholders.

Feedback and consultation for RAPs is invited from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples, local organisations and community groups, Aboriginal Education Officers and the wider community.
