Consultation has concluded

Background

Ivory Park is a Local Park located in Noranda. The existing play equipment has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced mid-2024. This redevelopment aims to create a more welcoming and inclusive play space that can lead to a stronger and more vibrant community.

How will the play space be redeveloped?

The approximate budget for this park redevelopment is $55,000. Depending on the equipment selected, this play space has the potential to enhance play and improve shade provision, either naturally by planting additional trees or shade sails. The Play Space Site Plan provides a visual representation of the play space size and layout.

The City is investigating the opportunity to undertake any additional works at this park in conjunction with the play space renewal. This may include, but is not limited to, converting underutilized areas of turf to mulched native planting to reduce watering and maintenance, community initiatives and general landscape upgrades where necessary and feasible.

The indicative concept plan is now available and ready to be viewed in the document library.

Outcomes

Based on recent community feedback received, the redevelopment of the play space at Ivory Park will include a mix of nature and traditional play equipment, with mulch as the soft fall material. The City will endeavor to install a shade sail over the play equipment. CCTV cameras are not in the scope of works for this play space redevelopment, but community feedback for this request has been noted and passed on to the City’s Ranger’s and Security.

You can view the full community consultation outcomes report here.

Next steps

Following the indicative concept plan, the City will begin sourcing for play equipment for the reserve and make adjustment to the concept plan if required. Updates will be provided on this page as the project progresses.

It is anticipated works will commence in July 2024, with estimated completion in August 2024. Dates are subject to change. The play space will remain open until works commence. Once the space is closed, we encourage the community to visit the nearby play space at Robert Thompson Reserve.
