Annual Tree Planting Program
Background
Trees provide many benefits, such as:
- improving air quality
- greening our urban environment
- supporting ecosystems by providing habitat and food for animals and insects
- reducing the impacts of climate change, and
- providing shade and cooling our suburbs.
As part of our commitment to increase the City's tree canopy, the City will planting more than 3000 trees over the 2026 winter period. This is in addition to trees and shrubs planted in natural areas in association with the City's environmental groups, and plants provided to residents through the Plants to Residents program at Environment House.
