Background

In June 2023 Council initiated a scheme amendment to rezone No. 1 Kelvin Street, Maylands (known as Sherwood / Kelvin Reserve) from ‘Medium and High Density Residential R50’ to ‘Local Public Open Space.’

What is proposed to be amended? 

The draft Town Planning Scheme Amendment proposes to rezone No. 1 Kelvin Street, Maylands (known as Sherwood / Kelvin Reserve) from ‘Medium and High Density Residential R50’ to ‘Local Public Open Space.’

This parcel of land contains a park with mature trees and park amenities, which is used by the local community. The intent of the amendment is to rezone this land to ‘Local Public Open Space’ in accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 Part 5 - Model provisions for local planning schemes, to ensure it remains as a local park for community use.
