Review of Local Government Property Local Law

BACKGROUND

At its meeting of 24 September 2024, the Council considered feedback from the community and the City of Bayswater administration and determined to amend the City's Local Government Property Law 2016. The report can be found as item 10.1.5 in the meeting minutes at Ordinary Council Meeting - 24 September 2024 (bayswater.wa.gov.au).

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 12 December Council resolved consent to advertise the proposed Local Government Property Amendment Local Law 2024 for public comment up until 7 February 2025. A copy of the proposed local law is provided below:

PROJECT UPDATE

The Local Government Property Amendment Local Law 2024 was made by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 March 2025 and was published in the Government Gazette on Friday 17 April 2025 and will become effective on 1 May 2025 (14 days after gazettal).

The final documentation will now be lodged with the State Government through the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation for them to scrutinize.
