Consultation has concluded

The City is considering the suitability of a number of reserves for a community event stage, and we are asking the community to tell us what they think.

Background

A report was provided to Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 3 December 2019, regarding the potential to locate a stage in a local reserve, for the purpose of small local community events.

Council requested further feasibility analysis be undertaken to determine the suitability of a small permanent event stage in one of the following four reserves across the City.

  • Robert Thompson Reserve, Noranda;
  • Riverside Gardens, Bayswater;
  • The Rise, Maylands, and
  • Houghton Park, Bayswater.

The minutes of the Council meeting can be found in the document library.

It is envisaged that the event stage would be used for community-led events, City events and other local activities authorised by the City. Further information can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions. Further information on all the sites can be found in the Site Profiles.

How can I get involved?

Thank you to everyone who contributed feedback through the survey. The survey has now closed. We appreciate your comments.

What was the outcome?

There were some delays with this project due to COVID-19. Once all the community feedback had been collated, a report was presented to the Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 August, 2020. After some discussion, Council decided that a community event stage was not a priority, in light of the uncertainty surrounding budgets, restrictions on public gatherings and COVID-19 generally. Therefore the City will not be progressing with this project at this time.

You can find the report on the City's website here.
