Park Improvement Program

The City's park improvement program is designed to help green our City and respond to the needs of residents who use them.

Planting trees and creating eco-zoned areas with native plants benefits local biodiversity, provides food and habitat for wildlife, and reduces water usage. It also contributes to creating an important component of the City's urban forest.

Improvements may include elements such as new plantings, turf rehabilitation, ecozoning areas, improved accessibility, lighting, seating or playground upgrades.

  • Remembrance Park, Bedford

    The City is upgrading the memorial area at the southern end of Remembrance Park.

    This area will be temporarily fenced off during construction.

    Works are expected to be complete by November 2026.

  • Riverside Gardens enclosed dog exercise area

    Temporary closure – 20 August 2026

    The enclosed dog exercise area will be temporarily closed while the City applies a broadleaf herbicide on Thursday 20 August 2026.

    The area will be closed from approximately 5.30am to 10am and is expected to be open for use from 12pm.

    Temporary closure – 7 September to 5 October 2026

    The City is carrying out essential maintenance works at the enclosed dog exercise area to improve turf quality and ensure a safe, enjoyable safe for all users.

    To undertake the turf repairs and improve the overall park condition, the area will be closed from Monday 7 September to Monday 5 October 2026.

    During these times, dog owners are encouraged to visit any of the City’s other dog exercise areas.

    The area will be closed from approximately 5.30am to 10am and is expected to be open for use from 12pm.

    These works form part of our ongoing program to maintain healthy turf, improve presentation and provide a high-quality park environment for our community to enjoy.

    As part of the maintenance program, selective weed control treatments will be applied to targeted turf areas.

    Please follow onsite signage while visiting the area.

    Everlasting daisies (Rhodanthe Chlorocephala) have been planted throughout the City to showcase an iconic Australian native.
