Modified Policy - 'Percent for Public Art'

Description: The City of Bayswater has adopted the modifications to the 'Percent for Public Art' policy for public comment. This policy applies where a development proposal on private land has a construction cost of $1 million or greater and is a commercial, non-residential or mixed use development. The proposed modifications include:

Cash - in -Lieu Option

The modified policy proposes to introduce the option of cash-in-lieu payment which would allow the owner/applicant to make a contribution of no less than 1% for public art which would be held in a trust fund by the City. Cash-in-lieu funds paid in relation to more than one development may be accrued for more comprehensive or detailed public art projects on public land as determined by the City.

Artwork on Public Land

The modified policy proposes modifications to the 'Artwork on Public Land' section to simplify the process for public art to be placed on public land.

A number of other minor amendments to provide greater clarity and update references to other documents are also proposed.

A copy of the modified policy (with the modifications highlighted) is available here.
