Mills Avenue Park is located on Railway Avenue in Bayswater, adjacent to the Bayswater Town Centre.
The area surrounding the reserve contains a handful of Pocket and Local parks, meaning that residents surrounding Mills Avenue Park have a choice of parks within walking distance of their house. Mills Avenue is one of the larger parks in the area.
The City has developed a Parks and Play Space Classification Hierarchy to inform and guide play space redevelopments (this can be found in the Document Library to the right of the page).
Redevelopment of the play space
The play equipment is due for replacement and we are taking the opportunity to redevelop the play space. We have taken into consideration how the community uses the space and their ideas for improvement. This includes play elements, and other types of park infrastructure.
The budget for this project is $50,000.
Engagement update
The City received 12 completed surveys during the final stage of community consultation in relation to to the Mills Avenue Park play space redevelopment. The information collected from the community engagement process then assisted the City to develop a final concept design based on a nature based style of play equipment. The community requested that the following be considered within the overall concept design:
Equipment to be suitable for children aged between 0 - 6 years
Swinging element
In favour of a rock tunnel with a slide
Alternative softfall due to tree debris
What's next?
The play equipment has been installed and the park is now open.
Contact us any time on the details provided in 'Who's Listening' at the top of the page.
