Description:

The City of Bayswater has adopted the Maylands Residential Estate Design Local Planning Policy.

The City had a number of local planning policies in the form of residential estate design guidelines, which shaped and guided residential development in the Maylands area.

In February 2019, the City consulted with landowners in relation to these policies, to determine whether they still consider them to have value, given the areas are now predominantly fully developed. A number of landowners indicated their preference for some of the policies to remain in place, as they have ensured a consistency in built form and established a particular local character over time and if these policies were to be revoked, there is a chance that new residential development may compromise this consistency in built form and established character. The content of these policies is now consolidated into the Maylands Residential Estate Design Local Planning Policy.
