Landscape & Green Infrastructure Assessment

Planning and design are now underway for key restoration works, including improving water circulation at Lake Brearley and the detailed design of a treatment wetland at Brickworks Lake.

While these works seek to address environmental issues, the Landscape and Green Infrastructure Assessment takes a broader view, looking at how the lakes, vegetation, pathways and open spaces could be enhanced to benefit both the environment and community.

The primary purpose of this assessment is to provide a clear understanding of current conditions and to communicate why ecological and landscape changes are necessary to address ongoing issues such as algal blooms and midge.

This framework is intended to inform the design of a future landscape restoration masterplan, ensuring interventions are evidence-based, balanced and sensitive to ecological and community values.

Throughout December the City's consultant engaged with the Community on the Landscape and Green Infrastructure Assessment. Based and the assessment, together with the community feedback received they are now drafting Landscape Restoration Masterplan.
