Gobba Lake Play Space Upgrade

Consultation has concluded

Background

Gobba Lake is a Local Park located in Bayswater. The existing play equipment has reached the end of its useful life and will be replaced mid-2024. This redevelopment aims to create a more welcoming and inclusive play space that can lead to a stronger and more vibrant community.

How will the play space be redeveloped?

The approximate budget for this redevelopment is $60,000. This play space will have the potential to enhance play, connect with existing infrastructure and improve connectivity by adjusting the footprint of the play space while existing shade sails will remain. The Proposed Play Space Location Plan provides a visual representation of the play space size and layout.

The City is investigating the opportunity to undertake any additional works at this park in conjunction with the play space renewal. This may include, but is not limited to, converting underutilized areas of turf to mulched native planting to reduce watering and maintenance, community initiatives and general landscape upgrades where necessary and feasible.

The indicative concept plan is now available and ready to be viewed in the document library.

Community engagement outcomes

Based on recent community feedback received, the redevelopment of the play space at Gobba Lake will include a mix of nature and traditional play equipment. This will cater to a wider range of ages and abilities and continue to include imaginative play. Double swings and slides would be considered for this reserve due to the age group and preference from the community. Sand will be used as the soft fall material. The current play space will remain in the same location making use of the existing shade sail.

You can view the full outcomes report for the community consultation here.

The engagement period is now closed, we would like to thank all participants for providing feedback via the engage page and survey.

Gobba Lake play space is now OPEN to the public.
