Consultation has concluded

Clarkson and Tranby Reserves are located on the Swan River in Maylands. The reserves are classified as Neighbourhood Parks (according to the City's Parks and Play Space Classification Hierarchy , part of the City's Play Space Strategy, endorsed by Council in 2019), and are designed to provide play opportunities and choices for different age groups including a mix of equipment types. Both of these documents can be found to the right of this page.

There are four current pieces of dynamic equipment which are due to be replaced (shown below). The equipment is located along the river foreshore pathway.

The budget available for this project is $50,000.

The City is going to replace the exercise equipment and is seeking feedback about the type of equipment the community would like to use. To make an informed decision, we need to know the preferred type of exercise equipment, and preferred formation in which the equipment is to be presented.

There are two general types of exercise equipment:

Static equipment, which is stationary, without moving parts, as shown below:

Bohemia Park, Noranda

Dynamic equipment, which comprises moving parts and provides a guided range of movement, as shown below:

Arbor Park, Morley

It may be possible to install a combination of both static and dynamic elements, depending on available resources and community feedback.

Formation

There are a number of factors to consider when installing equipment, including:

  • proximity to existing play and park infrastructure in the park
  • provision of continuous access to and from the equipment, and
  • sight lines into proposed location for safety and surveillance.

The equipment is currently located in a linear formation along the pathway at Clarkson and Tranby Reserves; however an alternative would be a cluster formation, as shown below:

Cluster formation
Multiple pieces grouped together in one area
Bohemia Park, Noranda
Linear formation
Single pieces located along a pathway
Tranby Reserve, Maylands

How can I get involved?

The engagement period has closed. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback in the engagement process. We have incorporated your feedback into an Engagement Outcomes Report, this is available to view under Documents to the right of the page. You can also view the final design.

What's next?

The installation of the new equipment is complete and available for the community to use.
