Dog Bag Dispenser Trial

Consultation has concluded

BACKGROUND

The City has partnered with local Perth business, Little Rippers, to undertake a trial of an innovative, smart dog bag dispenser at the historic Shearn Memorial Park, which is a popular dog exercise area within the City.

The trial consisted of three Little Ripper dispensers temporarily replacing the existing single-use corflute dispensers. The three trial dispensers were located around the perimeter of the dog exercise area.

This project will assist the City in assessing long term options for dog bag dispensers that support the City's shift away from single use plastics and that improve community experience.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We invited the community to share their experience using the Little Rippers dog bag dispensers via the survey below from 22 March until the 31 May 2024..

Community feedback was assessed by the City to understand community experience of the dispensers. Please see the outcomes report for details.

The trial has yielded positive results, demonstrating significant improvements in usability, bag quality, and community satisfaction. This data will be used to help inform future decisions regarding permanent dog bag infrastructure.

WHAT'S NEXT

The collated data will be used, alongside other input, to inform the feasibility of a wide-scale rollout of dispensers across the City for the 2024/25 financial year.

The decision whether or not to progress the roll-out will be communicated with our stakeholders and the community. If you would like to receive an update about the project, please 'follow the project' on the menu to the right of this page.
