The City is committed to working with WA Police and its community to address the important issues about crime and community safety in the City.

Community Safety Forum

On April 28 2022 the City hosted a community safety forum, which was independently facilitated. The forum was the start of the City's development of a Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan. At the forum community members were able to ask questions of a panel and were then asked to outline what they consider to be the priority actions.

For details of panel members, Q&A outcomes, and community priorities and associated rationale(s) please see the facilitators summary report.

What's been happening

Based on discussion at the forum the City is continuing to research the viability of portable CCTV units and is currently trialing mobile License Plate Recognition camera’s in our security vehicles.

For the two middle weeks of May we have been supporting Bayswater Police, by providing visible patrols and gathering intelligence regarding Operation PEDDLE, which targeted thefts from motor vehicles across the City. City officers also placed pamphlets on vehicles providing crime prevention advice.

The City has also responded by ensuring it's security patrols have taken in areas of concern.
