Consultation has concluded

BACKGROUND

At the City of Bayswater Ordinary Council Meeting held on 22 August 2023, Councillors unanimously resolved to convert the off-leash dog exercise area (see map) at Claughton Reserve, Katanning Street, Bayswater into an on-lead area. A copy of the Council report can be accessed here.

The City of Bayswater is a City of dog-lovers and there are currently more than 40 off-lead dog exercise areas within the City. If you'd like to explore all of them, you can use the City's interactive dog exercise area map.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

The conversion means that the entire reserve, including the river, is now designated as dog on-lead.

The change will take effect from 15 January 2024.

If you have any questions please contact the Rangers team at the City of Bayswater on 9272 0622 or email mail@bayswater.wa.gov.au

We understand that the change will have an impact on some park users. If you'd like to tell us about how you use Claughton Reserve, or would like to provide any comments on this change please use the comment form below.

WHAT'S NEXT - DOG OFF-LEAD AREA REVIEW

We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy time outdoors in Bayswater, whether they have four legs or two. So, in 2024/25 the City will undertake a review of all its dog exercise areas to make sure they meet community need. If you would like to take part in future consultation opportunities, please provide your email address in the form below.
