Consultation has concluded

BACKGROUND

Following on from the success of the “Our Park, Our Place” project at Arbor Park, the City is planning the second stage of park upgrade works. Working with Greening Australia and the Behavior Change Collaborative the “Our Park, Our Place” project undertook extensive community engagement to create a plan for the entire Arbor Park site, with initial works focused on the south-east corner. These works included pathways, revegetation, educational signage, and wood carvings inspired by community artworks.

PHASE 2 WORKS

The planned stage two works, based on the concept plan, to be completed during 2022 are:

  • Construction of pathways to formalise access to the bush areas
  • More revegetation works to connect the bush pockets in the Northern section of the park.
  • Nature play infrastructure to complete the nature play zone in the south-east corner (Our Park, Our Place area).
  • A ‘Whale Humpback Climber’ installed in the Northern section for nature play activities
  • Installation of nature-based play dog-agility course For an example of these click here

This project is funded through the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND OUTCOME

There was 68 responses to the survey on the location of the dog agility course, with 63.4% in favour of location 1 due to its location away from roads, accessibility, and flat surface. For more detailed analysis please see the engagement outcomes report. Based on these outcomes, Location 1 will be the new home to the dog agility course.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

There are two community planting days planned for Arbor Park in 2022:

  • Saturday 23rd July
  • Saturday 6th August

These planting days run from 9am-12pm and all are welcome to help protect and enhance the natural environment at the park.
