Arbor Park - Basketball Court Replacement Program

Consultation has concluded

As part of the City's annual review of its basketball courts, the basketball surface and infrastructure at Arbor Park was identified for replacement during the 2018/19 financial year.

Residents and park users were consulted in order to determine suitable community equipment within the park and proposed locations should a basketball remain.

Thank you to all participants who provided feedback. The City values your input which is used to help determine the park's future equipment. Responses included mixed community support for the replacement of the basketball court. The consultation also received a number of concerns regarding noise and anti-social behaviour around the proposed basketball courts. However, the consultation found residents and users supported alternative activities within the park such as exercise equipment and community Frisbee.

As a result, the basketball court will be removed and not replaced and in line with community demand some exercise equipment will be introduced into the park.

The City will be trialing the placement of a few Disc Golf targets within the park in order to gauge community interest and demand in this new and exciting activity.

The exercise equipment is anticipated to be installed between April-May 2019. Disc Golf will be installed at a later date to be confirmed.
