The City of Bayswater has around 32,000 trees and they make a significant contribution to enhancing the quality of our urban living environment. The City currently spends annually $1.7M on maintaining these trees and $400,000 to enhance our tree network.

As part of the City's reinvigorated commitment to our 'Garden City' ethos, Council has resolved:

“That in order to mitigate the Urban Heat Island effect and to provide considerable environmental benefits, City Officers investigate options to increase the City's tree canopy coverage from the 13.2% to 20% by 2025.”

In order to work towards this goal, Council has significantly increased its investment in tree planting and doubled it's funding for the 2016-17 financial year. As a result, this winter 1,500 large trees were planted.

On the strategic front the City is developing an urban forest strategy. This document will set a vision for what our Urban Forest should look like in ten years' time and will identify the high level policy tools required to achieve this outcome.

More details on tree management, why trees are important and how the City is developing this strategy can be found at http://www.bayswater.wa.gov.au/trees.

To ensure that the strategy hits the mark we need your help to identify what is important to our community when developing an urban forest strategy through this survey.
